Welcome to Miss Ploederl's Packer Backers
READING
The second and third graders are taking part in the 
Scholastic Paws for Reading Program. For every 20 minutes the students read and log on to the Scholastic website, Scholastic will donate a book for needy children. So far Dogs are beating Cats in our classroom. Cats have read 719 minutes and have had 35 books donated. Dogs have read 4,213 minutes and have had 210 books donated. That is a total of 245 books donated to needy chidren because of our SUPER READERS. Way to go!!!!  Just a reminder that the Paws program ends Dec. 14th.



  








                                        

           

WRITER'S 
              WORKSHOP



We have written fables, personal experience and turkey stories.  The students working to become good authors.






RELIGION

 The third graders a learning about being followers of Jesus.  They designed their own websites to spread the Good News. 

Since October is the month of the Rosary, we spent some time learning how to say the rosary and discussing the mysteries.  As a class we made a huge rosary on the wall outside our classroom.  




SCIENCE


 In Science class the second third graders are learning about plants.  Recently we explored how the seeds of different kinds of fruits are the same and how they are different.  The students worked in small groups comparing two different fruits.  Below are some pictures of the activity.



MATH

The third graders have been finishing up working on adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers with regrouping.  They enjoy working out the problems on their desks using wipe off markers.
